MOVIE POSTERS
These original movie posters are today quite rare. These come from the Jones
collection and highlight America's fascination with the wild west, cowboys,
gun fighting, and gold. They'd make a marvelous addition to any western Americana
collection. See images on the following page for more illustrations of these
posters.
2940. The Man From Colorado, 1948. The poster features stars Glen Ford, William
Holden, and Ellen Drew. "New-Born Colorado Caught in the Crossfire of
a Savage Fight For a Woman!" Very vibrant yellows, greens, and red. Red
and blue print, with movie illustrations along upper right and down left side.
Folded in half so there's a well defined crease., but in very fine condition
otherwise. 22 x 28". Est. $100-300.
2941. Colorado Territory, 1949. This poster features gun wielding stars Joel
McCrea and Virginia Mayo on a hillside overlooking a band of men on horses
approaching from below. "A Mighty New Warner Bros. Adventure." Also
a vibrant poster, with mesa setting in purples and yellows. Red and blue print.
A bit worn around the edges, and heavy creases crosswise, but in very good
condition. 22 x 28". Est. $100-300.
2942. Denver & Rio Grande, 1952. This action-packed poster not only features
stars Edmond O'Brien and Laura Elliot, among others, but scenes from the movie
are also present. A train wreck, gun-wielding men, fighting and romance are
all portrayed. Very colorful. Red bold print. Very fine, mounted on cardboard
support, and preserved behind plastic. 14.5 x 36" (vertical presentation).

2943. Storm Over Wyoming, 1949. Stars Tim Holt, Richard Martin and Noreen
Nash are all featured on this full color, illustration. "Tim Cracks Down
on Crooked Sheepmen
-as feud lashes cattle country!" The three stars
holding guns at the top, with dancing girls featured below, and man on a horse
overlooking herd of sheep at the bottom of the poster. Too many colors to
mention! Fun! Very fine, mounted on cardboard support, and preserved behind
plastic. 14.5 x 36" (vertical presentation). Est. $100-300.
2944. Denver & Rio Grande, 1952. Lot 2. This action-packed poster not
only features stars Edmond O'Brien and Laura Elliot, among others, but scenes

2945. "Gun Duel in Durango", 1957. George Montgomery stars, along
with co-stars Ann Robinson and Steve Brodie in this western flick. "
When
Dawn Came Up Like Gunfire Over Durango!
" and "The Never-to-die
saga of Will Sabre- and the day he had to shoot it out with the killers of
his outlaw past!" These dramatic quotes seem to fit the air of the poster:
gun-slingin' Sabre, with the beautiful damsel on a rearing horse to his left,
and the banded killers coming up the range to his right. Very cool poster,
and in very good condition. It has been mounted on cardboard support and preserved
behind plastic. 22 x 28". Est. $150-300.
2946. Cripple Creek, 1952. Another George Montgomery picture, also starring
Karin Booth. The featured scene in the poster is of Montgomery cold-clocking
the bad guy. This same scene is also featured in its actual black and white
clip, backdropped behind the color version. In very good condition, only minor
crumpling at the top edge, and has since been mounted on cardboard, and preserved
behind plastic. 22 x 28". Est. $150-300.
2947. Colorado Territory, 1949. Almost the same poster as the previous lot,
only this one has a vertical presentation. An extra scene at the bottom features
McCrea and Mayo in actual movie scene. Very fine, edges a little worn. Preserved
behind plastic. 14.5 x 36" (vertical). Est. $100-300.
2948. Leadville Gunslinger, 1952, starring Allan "Rocky" Lane "and
his black stallion Black Jack". Top portion of the poster features Lane
in two different scenes, in brilliantly painted photos from the movie. The
bottom scene is an actual black and white movie clip. Very fine, mounted and
preserved. 14.5 x 36" (vertical). Est. $100-300.
2949. Thrilling Wyoming, c.1950, starring William Elliott, Vera Ralston, and
John Carroll. All three stars are featured at the top. Directly below them
is a scene of a horse-drawn carriage, with red print movie title riding along
below. Very colorful, and very fine, small blemish at right edge. 14.5 x 36"

2950. Lust For Gold, 1949. "Love
Violence
Murder
for $20,000,000
in gold!" sits at the top in red type. Directly below we get the stars'
names in on bold red print, Glenn Ford, and Ida Lupino. The central scene
takes place on a fabricated cliff's edge, where two men are grappling for
a gun, and in which the movie title is carved. The two stars sit regally at
the bottom. Very fine, preserved. 14.5 x 36" (vertical). Est. $100-300.
2951. Cattle Drive, 1951. "The Story of the Great Santa Fe Stampede!"
An illustration of three men on horseback. The movie title, in large red print,
separates this scene from a cattle drive scene at the bottom. The whole poster
is illustration. Bottom left corner yields to stars' names, Joel McCrea, Dean
Stockwell and Chill Wills. Very colorful paintwork. Very fine, preserved.

2952. West of Wyoming, 1950. This poster consists of actual movie clips. The
title is in large, red and yellow 3-D print, almost comic book style, in the
center of the poster. Star Johnny Mack Brown is confronting the "bad
guy" the clip at the top. The bottom scene seems to be a combination
of three or four scenes, one featuring the star on horseback. Very fine, preserved.

2953. The Road to Denver, 1955, starring John Payne and Mona Freeman. "Brother
Against Brother
Bullet for Bullet
and the honey-haired blonde was
the prize" it reads in the caption at the top. Directly below is the
physical representation of the caption. At the very bottom is an illustration
of a stagecoach robbery. Very fine, preserved. 14.5 x 36". Est. $100-300.
2954. The Man from Colorado, 1948, starring Glenn Ford, William Holden and
Ellen Drew. "They Fought the Same Battles
but they loved the same
woman!" Right below are the actors portraying the caption, Ford and Holden
holding the same woman. In between the two is an illustration of fire and
mayhem. Along the very bottom is another illustration of chaos, rearing horses,
fights, etc. Very fine, some distress to the edges, but has since been preserved
behind plastic. 14.5 x 36". Est. $100-200.
