Vignette of several miners working underground with smaller vignettes at each corner. Uncancelled. Printer - Goes. 8 x 11”. Datelined Lead, South Dakota. This company was most likely located around Lead or in Whitewood. Very fine. Est. $25-75 IDAHO 1775. Idaho. Adams. Landore. Seven Devils Copper Co. Cert #165. Incorporated in Arizona. Issued to W. H. Hawley for 1000 shares in 1908. Signed by John Bell Jr. president and Fred D. Smith treasurer. Vignette at upper left of spread winged eagle. Black border with bronze seal and safety print. Uncancelled. Printer - Goes. 8 x 11”. Company owned the Arkansaw, Margaret and Decorah mines. The workings were all by tunnels and drifts with ore that average 5% copper, 2 ounce silver and $1 gold per ton. In 1915, financial difficulties forced a cessation of work with the management hoping to acquire the necessary funding to start up again. (Mines Handbook, 1918, p.738). Very fine. Est. $50-100 1776. Idaho. Bingham. Blackfoot. Eastern Idaho Mining & Water Co. Incorporated in the Territory of Idaho in 1883. Cert. #1069. Unissued, unsigned and uncancelled. Idaho. Custer. Mackay. White Knob Copper Co. Ltd. Cert. #5384. Incorporated in New Jersey in 1900. Issued to W.H. Granbery & Co. for 100 shares in 1904. Signed by president H.J.L. and asst. secretary (illegible). Uncancelled. Vignette of extensive mining operations. Orange border, printed by American BNC. 8”x 11”. Reorganized in 1904 in New Jersey, the mine consisted of 32 claims, 3 mill sites and the 90-acre townsite of Mackay. The average tenor of the ore apparently is about 2-3% copper only, with correspondingly reduced gold and silver values. In November, 1903, the smelter was said to be treating 300-500 tons of ore daily, making circa 15,000 lbs. Fine copper, 800 oz. Fine silver and 20 oz. Fine gold. The policy of White Knob has been consistent in the utter inconsistency of its management. Whether the mine is valuable or worthless, nobody knows. The best opinion seems to be that the mine has considerable ore, but is dangerously low in grade. Now owned by the Empire Copper Company. (The Copper Handbook, Vol. VI, pgs. 1051-52, and Vol. X, pg. 1818). Vf, folds, wrinkles. Est. $75-150 1779. Idaho. General. A.E. Love Wanted Poster, by the Warden of Idaho State Penitentiary, 1906.
