All of the cards offer a bird’s eye view of Tonopah, one of which appears to have had a some damage to the original negative. Another of the cards has a very interesting cross pattern on the reverse side from tape or something similar. The card with the negative damage is postmarked Tonopah, 1943. Vf. Est. $30-75
1264. Nye. Tonopah. Tonopah Bottle House Chromolitho Postcards, c.1908. Lot of 4 similar cards. All of the cards are by Edward Mitchell and all numbered 812. Three of the cards are the same view with different colorations. In these cards, there are no buildings yet built on either side of the Bottle House. The last card shows the Bottle House but there is a building on one side and probably the other. The bottle house was purchased in the early 1970’s and the bottles were sold to collectors at full retail. Vf. Est. $25-50

All of the cards are by Pacifc Novelty Co, SF. 2 of the cards are identical, #4487, one postmarked Manhattan, 1928(?). 1267. Nye. Tonopah. Tonopah Color Postcard Collection, c.1960-1980. Lot of 32 different cards. A wonderful collection of modern color postcards of different views of Tonopah. Most of the shots were taken in the 1960-70’s, one of the recent boom times for Tonopah. Around 1970, Anaconda began developing a mine 30 miles northeast of Tonopah to produce molybdenum. As part of this mine operation, Anaconda built a new neighborhood near the present day Nye County Courthouse. The price of moly(bdenum) dropped, the mine closed. During the 1980’s, the town was again was booming due to the extremely high price of gold, over $800. A minor boom hit Tonopah in the mid 1990’s when Equatorial began developing a copper open pit on the same property as Anaconda tried for moly. Unfortunately, the venture failed after a short 5 years sending Tonopah into its toughest depression yet. Several of the hotels and businesses shown on these cards are no longer in business. Even the famous Jim Butler Days is a mere shell of what it was once. One of the postcards is oversize measuring 6 x 9”. All Xf. Est. $30-60

The first, found in Tonopah in 1972, has a heavily pitted surface, rd, br, 21mm, with hole in center. Oro Y Plata is Vf, with toning in both fields, rd, br, 21mm. Est. $25-50

Hotels & Motels featured include: David’s L & L Motel, 3 different scenes of the Sundowner, 3 different cards of the Best Western, 2 different of the Mizpah, Golden Hills Motel, 2 different of the Silver Queen and one of the Continental.
