948. Ormsby. Carson City. Atlantic & Pacific Telegraph Co. Telegrams, 1877. The telegrams are from the Carson City office dated 1877, 25 pieces. This telegraph company was headed by Leland Stanford, as stated on the telegraphs. All of the dispatches were sent from San Francisco to Carson City at the Carson City Savings Bank, who had a stock brokerage business. Each telegram is written in code, with some translated at the bottom or along the words. These papers were used to buy and sell mining stock, generally Comstock, Nevada, and eastern California mining companies. The telegraph forms are considered rare. Est. $200-400

One postmarked Banning, Cal, 1892 and Carson City, the other with one illegible postmark and one Carson City, 1885. Each has two cent stamp, one green 1892, the other brown, 1885. The letter is datelined Colfax, Cal. 1885, and is addressed to Mr. Williams. Covers are torn at left edge, correspondence is Xf. Est. $25-50

953. Ormsby. Carson City. Carson City Mint Bullion Receipt, 1899. 533.65 ounces were deposited at the Carson City mint, which, after melting, weighed a surprising 533.50 ounces, only 0.15 ounces off. The total value of this deposit was $5403.93. The lot includes a letter from the Carson City Mint to the Bullion & Exchange attempting to explain why the gold weight was not the same as that which was sent. The gold bars were from the Selby Silver & Lead Co. Very fine. Est. $100-200

Nevada Tribune 1877-1882. 8 pcs, 4 different formats. Carson Weekly, 1900-3, 2 pieces, 2 formats. Daily Nevada Evening Tribune, 12 pcs, 3 different formats 1889-1894. The News, 19pcs, 5 different formats, 1897-1903. Morning News, 1 pc, 1895. Morning Appeal, 21 pcs, 1878-1904, 7 different formats. These papers were often the voices of the political factions of Nevada speaking from the Capitol. The invoices are generally for subscriptions from various CC banks. Est. $200-300

965. Ormsby. Carson City. David Bain Medicine Bottle. David Bain/ Druggist/ Carson City/ Mortar & Pestle monogram. W. T. & Co./ T on base. Two tiny base chips and one tiny lip chip. Clean, slightly purple, Philadelphia oval 6" tall. This is an extremely rare drugstore bottle in this condition. It is very rare anyway, but there are even fewer in near mint condition. The bottle dates to the early 1880's. Bain came from an old Carson family and gave the drug business a try, but lacked sufficient backing, as perhaps evidenced by his near complete lack of advertising. This was one of the original census pieces from the Nevada Bottle Book. Provenance: Dunn Collection. Est. $100-200

972. Ormsby. Carson City. Sam Davis Autograph Land Deed, 1885. Sam Davis was the publisher of the Carson Appeal and wrote a history of Nevada published in 1912 and republished by UNR Press. In this document, Davis is patenting some land, probably for agricultural purposes. His signature is at the bottom. Davis' signature is rare on documents. The deed is in poor condition with multiple tape repairs along fold creases. Est. $25-75

Thaxter/ mortar & pestle monogram/ Druggist/ Carson, 4 7/8" tall, extremely clean; Thaxter's Drug Store/ Cor. Carson & King Sts./ Carson City, Nevada, 4" tall. All clear, mint, minor stain on two. These date from the 1880's to post-1900 after Thaxter moved from Carson to Redlands, California to start a drugstore there. He had started in the lumber business in Carson prior to 1878. Nims" extremely difficult to read. On the left rim is a large hole from corrosion. Corrosion affects entire token. Although the token has a major condition problem, it is still of the great Nevada trade tokens and is Extremely rare. Est. $150-300
