PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
1990-2002: Consulting Geologist, Reno, Nevada.
Mineral geological consulting services for corporate and individual clients. Tasks included property evaluation and recommendation, finding and selecting potential metals exploration targets, prospecting for precious metals under a grubstake-type program, and recommending regional exploration programs and methods. Also involved with recommendations for joint venture drilling programs, evaluating progress and results. Extensive experience and ideas for Nevada gold targets. Extensive work in Mexico for the past seven years. At my own expense have developed numerous ideas and files for Mexico gold and copper deposits. Have prepared and completed in January, 1997, a map and database of the Active Metals Exploration and Mining Properties in Mexico, widely marketed to the mining industry. Updated version completed in 2000. The map and database are provided also as digital files on a CD disc. At my own expense, compiled, prepared and completed a map of Mexico Mineral Occurrences with 3,700 selected occurrences. Map, database, and digital files being marketed to the exploration industry.
Director and Vice-President Exploration of two Canadian junior companies in period 1996 to 1998.
Field examination and numerous geologic reports on various gold, copper, and silver projects in Mexico and Nevada, and field examination and report of a diamond project near Koffiefontein, South Africa.
Work in Mexico has included property and project evaluation, geologic mapping, sampling, and reconnaissance prospecting on company-held lands for several major and junior companies.
Conducted a comprehensive, on-site geologic evaluation, and prepared a report of an advanced-stage gold project in Chile.
Conducted extensive research, compilation, and made exploration recommendations for gold deposits in Colombia. Arranged, scheduled, and organized a visit to Colombia to examine significant gold districts and evaluate problems of doing business in Colombia.
1984-1990: Hecla Mining Company
Manager, Southwest Exploration - Reno, Nevada (1986-1990). Responsible for managing Hecla's southwest U.S. exploration program for gold and silver, with major focus on Nevada, Arizona, and California. Staff of 3 to 6 geologists plus 2 grubstake geologists and 2 part-time consulting geologists. Directed team to a rapid increase in number of high quality gold exploration projects. Drilling on one of the grass roots projects discovered a new disseminated gold deposit of small to medium size.
Manager Primary Exploration - Coeur d' Alene, Idaho (1984-1986). Managed a grass-roots gold and silver exploration program with 4 geologists and 2 to 3 1986 part-time consulting geologists, following the acquisition July, 1984 of Ranchers Exploration and Development Corporation by Hecla Mining Company. Duties included a "fast-track" approach at creating ideas, generating gold-silver prospects, acquisition, and drilling. Focused mostly in Arizona, Montana, and Wyoming.
1967-1984: Ranchers Exploration And Development Corporation
Assistant Vice President, Geology - Albuquerque, New Mexico (1982-1984). Managed Ranchers' geology and exploration activities which resulted in some additions to silver reserves, one gold deposit mined at a profit, and the discovery of a medium-sized gold deposit yet to be mined. Staff of 10 geologists and six part-time consulting geologists; lands, library, and drafting support. Responsible for annual budget of $1 to $3 million.
Manager of Exploration - Albuquerque (1979-1982). Managed the companies exploration activities for gold, silver, and uranium deposits in the United States.
Chief Geologist, Uranium - Albuquerque (1976-1979). Responsible for all corporate uranium exploration, including the Ranchers -Urangesellschaft Joint Venture and the Ranchers -Chaco Joint Venture. Staff of 10 to 14 geologists.
District Geologist - Grants, New Mexico and Albuquerque (1968-1976), Supervised Ranchers' uranium exploration activities, including the Ranchers-HNG Joint Venture; the Ranchers-Oxy-Framco Joint Venture; and the Ranchers-Urangesellschaft Joint Venture. Played a significant role in the discovery of the Johnny M Mine in the Grants Mineral Belt; the company's largest uranium mine. Staff of 3 to 5 geologists.
Junior Geologist - Grants, New Mexico (1967-1968). Supervised one to seven uranium drill rigs, including staking locations, building sites, logging cuttings, keeping up drill maps.
1966: AMAX - Denver, Colorado.
Party chief . Supervised deep coring project and claim mapping project for molybdenum prospect in southern Colorado mountains. Summer job while college student.
1965: Grand Deposit Mining Company,Reno, Nevada.
Mine Geologist. In charge of geologic mapping at the Pan American Mine near Pioche, Nevada producing 1,000 tons per day lead-zinc-silver ore. Summer job while college student.
1962-1964: Science Information Exchange, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. Professional Assistant, Earth Sciences staff. Duties were indexing, storage, and retrieval of geologic research programs. Part-time work while attending undergraduate school.
